Tracing origins to Kakinada,  Palyam Venkatachala Pandit was born into a Muluknadu Smartha family, in Palya, Kollegal Taluk, Karnataka.Starting with learning Ayurvedic medicine preparation from his father, Palyam Venkatachala Pandit soon began to treat many people who suffered from various ailments who approached him. This culminated in the establishment of  Sree Sitaraghava Vaidyasala in Mysore  in the year 1900.

In the year 1919, when the spread of pneumonia was rampant in India, claiming many lives, he  formulated the Lokamayahara Kasturi pills which to this day is famously known as Kasturi Goli, Vayu Guliga etc. and is manufactured at the unit in Mysore. This has become a household name and people use it to keep their throats and sinuses clear, apart from using it for various respiratory illnesses.

A philanthropist who believed in giving back to society, Palyam Venkatachala Pandit was well known as someone who performed Anna and Vidya Dana (aiding in food and education) and Vidhya Dana (.  He was bestowed with the title “Dharma Rakshaka”

In recognition of his efforts and contribution in the field of Ayurvedic medicine, in 1940, “Andhra Ayurveda Viswa Vidyalaya” awarded him the title “Ayurvedophadhyaya”. (Preceptor of Ayurveda). He was also awarded the titles “Bhishak Ratna” and “Dharma Rakshaka” by “Shri Shri Shri Chandrashekara Bharathi Swami” , the revered head pontiff of the sacred Sringeri Peetham.

 

Sree Sitaraghava Vaidyasala situated at 443, Chamaraja Double Road, Mysore was established in the year 1900 by Bhishagratna Palyam Venkatachala Pandit, with the aim of providing quality health care.  Initially great difficulties were overcome by the founder Bhishagratna Palyam Venkatachala Pandit, who with a lot of determination and courage, assisted by his own healing powersas a Vaidya, established the name throughout the country.

 

In the Year 1947, the Grand Son of Palyam Venkatachala Pandit Dr. P.R.Sitaram, who was a Graduate in Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.,) Central College, Bangalore, completed his L.A.M.S., in the Government College of Indian Medicine, Mysore and started assisting Palyam Venkatachala Pandit.  Eventually and becoming the Proprietor of Sree Sitaraghava Vaidyasala, Mysore, in the year 1958, and continued to serve the community by efficient management and providing quality product.  Dr. P.R.Sitaram further served Ayurveda and was recognized by the State Government who awarded him Dhanwantari Gold Medal in recognition to his service to Ayurveda in the year 2000-2001.

 

In the year 1984 Dr. S. Sriram B.Sc., B.A.M.S., started working as a Chief Executive of the firm and continued to uphold the standards.  Dr.P.R.Sitaram in the year 2001.  Eventually completing the factory to G.M.P. Standards.
