Our Founder
Sree Sitaraghava Vaidyasala was founded in 1900 by Bhishagratna Palyam Venkatachala Pandit, born into a Muluknadu Smartha family in Palya, Kollegal Taluk, Karnataka. Trained in Ayurvedic medicine by his father, he began treating people with dedication and compassion, soon earning a reputation as a healer of great repute.
During the devastating pneumonia epidemic of 1919, he formulated the Lokamayahara Kasturi pills, today known as Kasturi Goli or Vayu Guliga. Produced at the Mysore unit for over a century, this trusted remedy has become a household name, valued for its ability to clear the throat and sinuses and support respiratory wellness.
A philanthropist as much as a physician, he devoted himself to Anna Dana (feeding the needy) and Vidya Dana (supporting education). His contributions to Ayurveda were recognized with titles such as “Ayurvedophadhyaya,” “Bhishak Ratna,” and “Dharma Rakshaka”, bestowed by revered institutions and spiritual leaders, including Shri Shri Shri Chandrashekara Bharathi Swami of the Sringeri Peetham.
The Legacy Continues
In 1947, his grandson Dr. P.R. Sitaram (B.Sc., L.A.M.S.) joined him in practice. By 1958, he became Proprietor and guided the institution with efficiency and vision. His dedication to quality was honored by the Government of Karnataka, which awarded him the Dhanwantari Gold Medal in 2000–2001 for his service to Ayurveda.
In 1984, the mantle passed to Dr. S. Sriram (B.Sc., B.A.M.S.), who strengthened the company by establishing modern Good Manufacturing Practices (G.M.P.) and building the infrastructure to support them. Under his leadership, the business grew steadily, setting uncompromising benchmarks of quality and trust. The Kasturi Pill continued to be regarded as the original and best, a testament to his commitment to preserving tradition while raising standards.
Today
In June 2025, the next generation stepped forward, with Mr.Pranav Sriram assuming the role of CEO of Sree Sitaraghava Vaidyasala. Though trained as a Computer Science Engineer, he is deeply committed to carrying forward the vision of the founder. His focus is on strengthening operations, promoting wellness, and elevating the institution to world-class standards, while ensuring that every medicine lives up to the expectations of generations of loyal customers.
With over a century of heritage, Sree Sitaraghava Vaidyasala continues its mission: blending the wisdom of authentic Ayurveda with a commitment to quality, trust, and care.
